COMMENTS

The list of preachers is very diverse, and includes many from other circuits.
The Longton Mission Preachers is an example of the custom where a group of preachers from a circuit with a surplus goes to a circuit in need. On September 9, a group of 5 took evening services.

The Leek Mission Band may have been, as on other circuits, a group of young people under the guidance of an experienced preacher. They would take the service as a group. This has been a useful training from which many have become Local Preachers.

The reference "Film Service" relates to a scheme whereby the Home Missions Department helped by the J Arthur Rank foundation supplied film projectors to circuits to show the various films available from Christian organisations. These included productions by the Home and the Overseas Missionary Departments of the Methodist Church. My father used to hold special film evenings at Wetton. These were open to the whole village. The programme included more general films as well as some of those supplied by the Methodist departments.

The Field Day (refered to in the Pastoral Letter) was one of a series of Circuit events. In the summer, it was more of a sports day. In the rest of the year, Circuit Rallies would be held, with a special visiting preacher.
