STREET LANE METHODIST CHURCH
I have included this at this stage because of my family link (in the 19th century).
However, the area is important as being the beginnings of Primitive Methodism in Derbyshire. Belper saw an early Primitive Methodist Society through the work of John Benton around 1814. Because of thir lively singing, it was here that the Primitive Methodists got the nickname "ranters".
Street Lane is on the Belper Circuit, about 3 miles away.
